Independence High School has a Theater Club that is open to anyone who wants to join. Sarah Farson is the club’s advisor. When in the club, you get to act, play in shows, prep and plan.
Theater has different levels of difficulty. Farson states “I think if you really like to act, then it can feel easy. However, it depends on the show, and then sometimes it feels really difficult if you are playing a different character, or if you have longer lines. If the show is just really chaotic, it can feel like a lot of work.”
Junior Salah Hoover said sometimes when it comes to certain lines, she can get confused depending on the play and how they are written. While Freshman Daznell Ramos says, “acting is hard for her because she never did it before because of an injury.” Acting is different for different people overall.
Some of the play genres are comedy, dramatic, musical, and they like to mix it up. Ramos got into acting when she saw the “Aladdin” musical, and Hoover’s first play that she played in was “Horton Hears a Who”. Farson did improv comedy acting when she was in college which was one of the reasons she got into theater.
Any student that is interested in acting or the behind the stage work involved in putting on a play, should consider checking out the Theater Club.
