Robotics is a club at Independence High School where engineering students work together to build Robotics. Mr. Massic is the sponsor of Robotics. He states that the reason why they have the Robotic Club is “Career and Technical Education program has to have a CTSO or a career in technical student organization so that is a big part of the reason why we have that program here.”
The Robotic club also tends to compete at National and regional competitions, which many other non-CTE clubs do not get to do. Building a strong student community and teaching valuable real-life skills. Undertaking various projects that impact not just the club but the entire school, such as making awards for sports teams and other clubs. Creating and selling projects like metal roses, which were a big hit last year. Involvement in various builds around campus, like installing the big eye from the gifted class of 2003.
Furthermore, Students get to use cool tools. One of the students stated that they get to use “ plasma cutters to welders to basic hand tools of wrenches and screwdrivers 3D printers yeah that we got we got we got a sandblast cabinet we got to laid we have a meal so we have every tool for a lot of different jobs”. Students tend to be more hands-on in the Robotic club.
The Robotic Club would like to work on their time management. Their projects tend to take a long period of time because the students have big ideas, but in reality, they don’t have a lot of time management to complete their ideas.
Finally, the Robotic Club is an open space and material. It gives students the ability to develop the ideas they have been having. For example, building a robot or building a piece of technology. It opens students’ brains to think outside the box in the Robotic Club. Which allows the students to be more creative.
