Prominent director, Jordan Peele, has come out with his follow up to Get Out titled Us. This movie is subliminally about the U.S. hence Us. It is about capitalism and how the greedy habits of our country will ultimately be our downfall. Us has many symbolic moments that show the American Dream and the failures of it. It has many references to the United States’ history, such as the 1986 Hands Across America Movement that portrayed something positive and in turn, was quite a failure.

Jordan Peele has lined up a star studded cast for Us, with actors such as Lupita Nyong’o and Winston Duke, who also hit the big screen together for Black Panther in 2018. He only began directing a year ago, but has already solidified himself in the movie industry. His movies have been shown to be symbolic, complex, and send a message to society about the world we live in. From comedic television host, to enlightened movie director, Peele will continue to rise in popularity with future productions.

Us reeled in $70 million opening weekend making it the second most successful movie of 2019 so far. Ultimately, it has grossed $250 million showing the growing influence of Jordan Peele films. Us is likely to be one of the movies of the year and could see Peele getting nominated for an Academy award.
