The girl’s soccer team has played a tremendous season. Many are hopeful for an even better one next school year, and they have much to say about this year.
There have been many highlights for the soccer season. Sophomore Arlene Vega stated the “highlight of the season is spending time with my teammates.” She enjoyed being able to build friendships with her fellow players.
For Freshman Yuritzi Arias, her favorite part of the season was playing against Apollo High School. She says that it is her most treasured moment because everyone on the team had the opportunity to play.
While there may have been many positive aspects of the season, there were also some negative.
Freshman Caroline Hanson believes that the most crushing part of the season was when they “lost against a team 11-0.”
Arias biggest challenge has been playing against more seasoned players. She explains, “[It is difficult] to stand up to someone that actually understands their position.”
Nevertheless, soccer has opened up many opportunities for these players.
Arias enjoyed playing soccer so much that she plans to “[go to the] summer club to practice soccer.”
Hanson is relatively new to the sport. However, she is most proud of her ability to do penalty kicks. Hanson stated, “I am working on stopping the ball.”
Vega is very passionate about soccer; her brother is the reason for this. So, she has been playing for about 6 years. She has had such a fun time playing soccer, and she plans to continue playing for the rest of her highschool career.
The ups and downs of the soccer season made it an exciting and eventful school year for many of the girls.
