The main goal of the student council is to create a connection on campus. They facilitate many of the events on campus. They help with spirit weeks; they support clubs and sports, explained Pepper Marshall, sponsor of the student council, “They are the school’s heart.”
Student council is essential in school. The students are what represent the school’s spirit, pride, and emotion the best. They are the biggest representation of the school’s essence on campus. They show this by showing support for school games, organizing school events, and influencing students to represent the school.
Marshall stated, “Without a student council you have no school spirit, you don’t have dances, you don’t have assemblies, you don’t have support at the sporting events. They are kind of the school’s soul.”
An example of this would be Homecoming, an event which several members of the student council considered as a resounding success.
“I think we had a very successful Homecoming” presumed Marshall. Sophomore Irvin Villalobos also said, “The event I was most proud of was Homecoming because I feel it was well put together and students enjoyed it.”
The student council is a place of union where students work together in order to make the school a better place.
“ Student council is more of a family than anything”, expressed student council member Angel Olivas,who has been part of the student council for 3 years. “Student council is a place of growth and friendship.”
