Jocelyn Vite’s four years playing varsity soccer at Independence High School has accumulated in a record breaking season with over 100 career goals.
Vites achievements, including 100 goals and breaking school record, have not only shaped her high school career but also paved a way for her future as she prepares to play soccer at Eastern Arizona College on a full ride scholarship. “Playing high school soccer for four years as a varsity player and a captain was one of the most meaningful parts of my high school experience,” Vite expressed.
Vite also received other awards including player of the year and 19 player of the match awards. Her overall career stats were 68 games played, 285 points, 116 goals, 327 shots, 53 assists, and 5 steals. Vite says her “accomplishments really reflect our teamwork as much as my individual effort.” Vite feels in this sport there is no way to achieve great things without a good team and coaches to back her up.
Vite attributes her success to a combination of consistency, hard work, and the unwavering support of her teammates and coaches. She emphasizes the importance of practicing outside of team training, focusing on improving her first touch, finishing, and positioning. “I was able to reach 100 goals through consistency, hard work, and support from my teammates and coaches,” Vite Explained.
The bonds formed during bus rides to away games and the team’s winter tournament further enriched her experience, creating lasting memories and strengthening team chemistry. “My favorite parts of high school soccer were definitely the bus rides to away games as we all created fun memories or our winter tournament as it allowed everyone to spend time with each other and created bonding time with the team.”
Looking ahead, Vite is excited to continue her soccer career at Eastern Arizona College, drawn to the program’s strong reputation and the coaches dedication to player development. She hopes her journey inspires younger players to believe in themselves, hard work, and cherish every moment on the field. As a message to incoming players she says, “High school sports go by fast, so make memories, support your teammates, and never be afraid to take chances.”
