Anthony Colonna is a senior at Independence High School, where he played for the basketball team.
Colonna said his best accomplishment that he is most proud of is, “The accomplishment that I am most proud of is hitting 1,000 points in my basketball career here at Independence. It stands out to me because there are very few people here at Independence that have hit that milestone, and I have put my all into basketball.” This means a lot to him because it means a lot in school history.
Anthony said being on the team created core memories. He said one memory he won’t forget is, “A memory from high school I’ll never forget is my basketball team.” He was very happy when he expressed this. Another thing that was said is, “The person who played the most influential role in my high school years is my mom; she pushes me to do my best every day. She holds me accountable to my actions and is just a role model for me.” Colonna told me his best experience is, “An experience that best represents my high school journey is basketball season; it basically takes up the whole school year and contains fun, hard work, discipline, but an amazing experience.”
Colonna spoke about how he feels about transitioning after high school. “I feel like the transition from high school to the next stage of life is pretty relatable; I am excited but nervous.” Colonna said his feelings towards the future are, “I am most excited to graduate high school, but what I am worried about the most is my future and what goes on after this; I just want to be successful.” He said that his long-term goals are, “The goals I am focused on right now are graduating high school, money, my future, and family/friends.”
Colonna said, “If I could give advice to my freshman-year self, I would say to enjoy every moment of it, the good and the bad, because you will never re-live and experience high school again; these are the most memorable and important moments of your life.” He said that, “The people who did not know me misunderstood me and my high school experience heavily. I have heard that I get bad grades, mean, drink and smoke, just overall the complete opposite of what I am and my high school experience. I am top 15% in my class and a kind person. I dedicated my life to basketball, school, and family.” He also said, if he could put high school into a sentence, “High school is a rollercoaster of emotions, experiences, and just overall unforgettable.”
