Players can expect to be training on the Grand Canal through the Heroes Park. There, they train by running distance and focus on speed as well as establishing a solid base for runners. While running, the team keeps themselves pumped up with each other’s enthusiasm in groups.
Freshman Reyna Aguilera, had many honorable achievements such as achieving 6th place against many other people. Aguilera is an outstanding and friendly athlete who describes her team as “everything” to her. A moment from cross country that continues to help push her forward is when she had raced with her friend, Karla for the last time for this season. “Racing with one of my best friends made me feel motivated and gave me a push,” Aguilera stated.
Junior Leslie Giron Pina is a fierce and sociable competitor that IHS is lucky to have. She started cross country in elementary but is doing her first year of cross country at IHS. Giron explains how cross country has changed her life with meeting new faces and helping with physical and mental health. Before she used to suffer from being insecure of her own capabilities, but over time she became more confident. Giron stated,“I have accomplished things that I would have never thought I would be able to do; for example, I never thought I would be able to run for three miles straight without stopping.”
The cross country team establishes a respected title as one of the best sports in IHS. They will continue to amaze and shock people with the player’s talent and skill moving on. People can not wait for their next big accomplishment.
